In Part 2, we explored our first 10 patterns. Now, we're diving into 10 more.

So, fasten your seatbelts, and let's dig deeper!

Prompt Design Patterns 11-20

  1. Predictive Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a predictive prompt when you want the AI model to make predictions or forecasts based on available information.

  • Prompt template: "Based on the data provided, what do you think will happen in [specific scenario or event]?"

  • Example: "Based on the current market trends, what do you predict will be the next big technology breakthrough?"

  1. Personalization Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a personalization prompt when you want to tailor the prompt to the user's specific context, preferences, or needs.

  • Prompt template: "How can [specific topic or task] be customized to better suit your preferences?"

  • Example: "How can a workout routine be customized to fit an individual's fitness goals and limitations?"

  1. Reflective Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a reflective prompt when you want to encourage the AI model to reflect on a topic, share personal insights, or express opinions.

  • Prompt template: "What are your thoughts on [specific topic or concept]? Share your insights or personal experiences."

  • Example: "What are your thoughts on the impact of social media on interpersonal relationships?"

  1. Decision-Making Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a decision-making prompt when you want to seek the AI model's input or advice in making decisions or weighing different options.

  • Example: "What factors should I consider when deciding between pursuing a job opportunity or starting my own business?"

  1. Action-Oriented Prompt:

  • When to use: Use an action-oriented prompt when you want to prompt the AI model to suggest actionable steps, strategies, or recommendations.

  • Prompt template: "What are some effective strategies or steps to [specific task or goal]?"

  • Example: "What are some effective strategies to improve time management and increase productivity?"

  1. Opinion Prompt:

  • When to use: Use an opinion prompt when you want to solicit the AI model's opinion on a particular matter or ask for subjective viewpoints.

  • Prompt template: "What is your opinion on [specific topic or issue]? Share your thoughts."

  • Example: "What is your opinion on the role of artificial intelligence in the future of healthcare?"

  1. Contextual Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a contextual prompt to provide relevant context or background information to guide the AI model's response.

  • Prompt template: "Given the following context [provide relevant context], what would be your response?"

  • Example: "Given the current economic climate and consumer behavior, how would you approach marketing a new product?"

  1. Socratic Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a Socratic prompt to use probing questions to encourage deeper thinking, reasoning, or exploration of a topic.

  • Prompt template: "What are the possible implications of [specific event or scenario]? Explore the potential consequences."

  • Example: "What are the possible implications of widespread adoption of renewable energy sources?"

  1. Collaborative Prompt:

  • When to use: Use a collaborative prompt to prompt the AI model to engage in collaborative thinking, problem-solving, or idea generation.

  • Prompt template: "Let's brainstorm ideas to solve [specific problem or challenge]. What are your suggestions?"

  • Example: "Let's brainstorm ideas to reduce plastic waste. What innovative solutions can you propose?"

Remember, these prompts are just tools for you to use and customize as you like. The more you play around with them, the better your chats with ChatGPT will be.
